Organization & offices

CPF is a collaborative venture between Region Skåne and Lund University, and is based at the Clinical Research Centre at Skåne University Hospital in Malmö.

The board comprises six members, including representatives of both Region Skåne and Lund University, and private health care providers.

Region Skåne

Region Skåne is the local authority in Skåne – the county in which the CPF is situated.

Lund University

The CPF is part of the Faculty of Medicine of Lund University. With a history of medical research extending over 300 years, the Faculty of Medicine is one of the most research-intensive university environments in Europe. Its research covers a wide variety of subjects ranging from basic experimental research to applied, clinical research focusing on health care science and public health issues.

Lund University has been awarded funding to address nine of the Swedish Government’s 24 “Strategic Research Areas”. Research in five of these areas – Epidemiology, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, Diabetes, Neuroscience, and Cancer – is being coordinated by researchers at the Clinical Research Centre and other Faculty of Medicine sites.

Clinical Research Centre

Lund University’s Clinical Research Centre (CRC) is located in Malmö in the heart of the thriving Swedish-Danish Öresund Region. The CRC is one of Europe’s most modern translational research environments and CPF has full access to its resources.

The CRC offers unique premises where the integration of research, teaching, clinical training, and health care facilitates the development of better diagnostics and more effective treatments. It is a world-leading center for clinical and epidemiological research.

An important resource at the CRC is its seven research groups, whose members include some of the world’s foremost clinical and preclinical researchers in cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, social medicine, health economics, and genetic and social epidemiology.
