How we finance research
Research conducted within Region Skåne is financed by Region Skåne itself, as well as by government funding, foundations and donations.
Important sources of funding include ALF (the Medical Training and Research Agreement – Avtal om Läkarutbildning och Forskning), the Swedish Research Council, the Swedish Cancer Society, the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation, Regional Research Support, and Region Skåne’s internal R&D funds.
EU funds also finance research and development projects in Region Skåne. Most EU funds finance clinical projects in health care, but Region Skåne also conducts projects in culture, public transport, and regional social and business development. Region Skåne also invests and funds research infrastructure.
R&D Funds
R&D funds are a recurring item in the annual budget of the Health and Medical Services Committee. These funds finance research time and infrastructure for clinical research within Region Skåne’s health care operations.
