International Office

Do you want to work within healthcare in Region Skåne? International Office helps those who were educated abroad to obtain a Swedish licence to practise, and to start working as a healthcare practitioner.

Fyra personer i sjukhuskläder pratar med varandra utomhus. Tre av dem sitter på en bänk medan en står. Några av dem håller i kaffemuggar och de se glada ut.

International Office is an advisory function within Region Skåne that can support those who have been educated abroad with:

  • the licensing process
  • the Swedish language
  • the work permit process.

What is International Office?

International Office’s mission is to make it easier for those who were educated abroad to obtain a licence as a healthcare practitioner more quickly, and to start working in Swedish healthcare. By creating the right conditions to use the skills of those who were educated abroad, International Office contributes towards Region Skåne’s competence provision.

The aim is that those who were educated abroad should be able to practise as licensed professionals in healthcare as soon as possible. International Office therefore works with actors within Region Skåne such as Regional Development and with external actors such as universities, colleges, the Swedish Public Employment Service and the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR).

International Office has also been tasked with coordinating international exchange programmes within the HOPE European Exchange Programme, Global Nurse and Global Resident Physician. International exchanges help to strengthen global health skills among Region Skåne’s employees.
